It is accomplished, to borrow really loosely from The Last Temptation of Christ.

Or as George and Weezy might say:
“We’re movin’ on up, to the East Side, to a self-hosted server in the sky–i—y….”
Well, I don’t know if the server is in the sky, but we’ve finally got our piece of the self-hosted pie. It’s still not perfectly customized, but the furniture is moved in and the cabinets are clean are ready for new stuff. I’ve shut down the blog on Wordpress.com and the website on Weebly. I’ve probably missed updating my information in a few places, but anyone going to the old sites should be re-directed here.
So I can officially welcome everyone to It’s Curious! Yea for a bright and shiny new home!
A quick note about the name. When I was dreaming up site names years ago, my final two choices were Mythical Design and It’s Curious. I had decided on Mythical Design, but then when I got around to buying the domain name, someone beat be to it literally by a matter of a couple of days. That wouldn’t have bothered me, except I’d already planned the branding for MD and hadn’t really come up with anything for It’s Curious. So let that be a lesson to you boys and girls, if you see a domain name you like, snap it up!
Why the venue change? I got tired of Wordpress.com’s limitations. They’ve definitely added a lot of cool new stuff recently, but there were so many things I wanted to try that required scripting, and so many tweaks that I wanted to make that just weren’t possible with the selection of templates they offered.
As for Weebly, again, they’ve made a lot of improvements but in the end the interface just wasn’t robust enough, the blog mechanism was lousy and the support wasn’t good enough to justify paying for the upgrade.
I’ve tried Typepad, Squarespace, Blogger, a whole slew of freehosts, and I finally became resigned to the fact that self-hosting was going to be the only way I could get what I wanted. I took advantage of an amazing deal from Dreamhost, whom I’m very pleased with and haven’t looked back.
I hope y’all like the new home as much as I do.
